Why Influencer Marketing Is Going to Grow Even More After 2018

Over the past few years, influencer marketing has been on the rise. More and more companies and brands are finding that working with influencers to connect with a unique audience can accomplish great things for their businesses. Here are some of the reasons we can expect to see influencer marketing grow over the next few years – and why you should be using it in your brand’s strategy.

1. Decline of Radio and TV

Live radio and television services are still around, and plenty of people still use them. However, with digital on-demand services for music and TV shows, the number of listeners and viewers has begun to decrease. With these audiences leaving, the reach of any advertisements on these media is decreasing.

2. Ad Blockers

If people aren’t paying attention to live radio and television, then it makes sense to move ads to the digital realm where audiences are. However, many internet users don’t have the patience for such marketing efforts, and ad blockers mean that customers don’t have to worry about encountering them. Premium paid services (like YouTube Red or Spotify Premium) also give users of platforms an option to cut ads right out of the equation.

3. Influencers Still Hold Sway, Even With These Restrictions

People who use ad blockers often don’t want to waste time on advertisements, they want the content they came for. In terms of social media, that content happens to be posts, photos, and videos of the people they follow. An influencer’s presence will still show up, and having your brand there allows your company to bypass issues like ad blockers.

4. Influencers Can Create Lasting Relationships

A one-off promotion from an influencer can yield results, but only temporarily. When brands and influencers form a lasting partnership, they can continue to benefit each other over time. It’s that long-term exposure that helps a brand build a better relationship with an influencer’s audience.

With these core elements on its side, influencer marketing will continue to increase sway in the world of digital marketing.
